Day 2: Early Days

Before I went to school today, I met Jose's grandparents. Conveniently, they live next door. Actually most of Jose's family live right next door in the houses that surround his.
Due to this, I arrived at school slightly late, my teacher didn't really mind. Our class is so funny, we have some really hilarious moments when one of us, either me or Natalia, can't say what we are trying to say. After school I got picked up by Jorge and we came home for lunch, for which we had gallo pinto, one of the most popular dishes of Costa Rica, it is very good, and comes in many different forms.
Later that afternoon, Jose and I went to his grandparents to have some afternoon tea with them. His grandmother talks a lot, and his grandfather hardly speaks at all, I think it's like that in most marriages though :)
Jose tried to introduce me to his other relatives that live in the houses around his, but they all were out. But, we couldn't just look inside to see whether they were out, because when Jose touched the door of one house to see whether it was unlocked, the alarm went off.
After this, we played with the two dogs that Jose's family have, Milu and Sammy. I like Sammy more because she is less greedy and seems slightly lost all the time. It was funny because there is one food bowl for the both of them, but Milu is so greedy that she kept on putting lots of the food in her mouth and taking it somewhere else to eat, but she wouldn't even finish it.
At about 4:30 Jose, Jorge, Nati (Jose's cousin), Rebe (His aunt) and I caught the bus into the centre of Heredia. I was told yesterday to be careful with the buses when getting on, as there are two bars that sense when a person has entered, and count how many people are on the bus. But if you remain in between the bars for too long, it will count you as two people. So the bus drivers can get angry because at the end of the day they have to make up the difference between the amount of people that actually went on the bus and the amount the sensors counted.
Once we got to town, we had to catch the train all the way to San Jose, but Jose had university, so he didn't come with us. We were off to San Jose to see the annual Christmas event of the illumination of the Museum of the Children. There were so many people who attended and I kept on thinking that I was going to get separated from the others. But I managed... :) However as we were getting to the place to view the show, there was muddy patch of grass on the curb that we had to go through, so the whole left side of my shoe is brown...
The show was really cool, with singing and dancing, and of course lots of lights. It finished with a big fireworks display. Afterwards we caught the bus back to Heredia.
Another great day in paradise! Qué chiva!
The fireworks!
